My Role

I have the best job in the world. I'm a reporter, which means I get paid to have people tell me stuff and then share their stories with others. Currently, I cover York County and Poquoson for the Daily Press.
My Biography

I have always been a journalist.

From the time I could talk, I was reporting the news to anyone who would listen. It didn’t matter what it was, I had a knack for telling stories about what I had for dinner or the weather. I got serious about the field in high school when I participated in the Virginian-Pilot Minority Journalism Workshop. It was there that I was exposed to the daily life of a newspaper reporter and decided that I wanted to make it my career.

I majored in journalism at Norfolk State University. At NSU, I honed my journalism skills even more through my involvement with the campus newspaper and through freelance and internship opportunities. After graduating in May 2006, I interned at the Star-News in Wilmington, N.C. and was hired a few months later as a county government reporter. I covered Pender County, one of North Carolina's fastest growing counties, for two years before taking a job with the Daily Press.

I have been a reporter at the Daily Press since 2008.
