Sports Lead for Tribune Newspapers using the Media on Demand (MOD) product. I'm responsible for overseeing the page production and national content management of the Daily Press (Newport News, Va.) and Hartford Courant (Conn.) from Tribune Tower in Chicago. While assisting in the overall nightly production of each paper, my focus is on sports and providing section budgeting, page design, copy editing and management of national content.
While I've been with Chicago Tribune since January 2011, I've worked at newspapers big and small since graduating college in 1997: The Oregonian, Miami Herald, South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Times of Northwest Indiana. I've also worked in a variety of roles, including reporter, copy editor, page designer and web producer. I've been fortunate to work with an all-star cast of editors and designers along the way and earned Awards of Excellence from the Society of News Design at the Oregonian and Sun-Sentinel. I was even honored by the Society of Professional Journalists for sports writing, although my days as a writer seem like a lifetime ago (1995). I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1997 and my first job in journalism was as a sports writer for the St. Augustine (Fla.) Record.
Tinkering with my iPhone, watching every season of Top Chef, dreaming of retiring in Key West, but most of my time is spent keeping up with my wife, two kids and two dogs.
