Steve Johnson covers entertainment and popular culture in Chicago and beyond. He writes the weekly Web Spin column on Sundays and contributes occasional reviews, humor pieces and columns on modern life as we live it today in a contemporary fashion now.
Born in Chicago and raised in New Hampshire, Steve Johnson started at the Tribune after graduating Brown University in 1986. He has served as television critic, Sunday Magazine staff writer, media columnist, Internet critic, metro reporter, lifestyle columnist, and features writer, but not in that order. He has also contributed book and dining reviews and travel pieces. Johnson's work has won national awards on both the news and features sides of the paper.
Fiction. Alt-country music. Craft beer. Basketball, tennis and, with inadequate diligence, running. But, mostly, raising his two sons, part of the next generation of newspaper readers (knock on wood).
