Copy Editor/Writer
My Role

Copy editor and writer for Daily Press print edition, dailypress.com and the other websites it powers, such as HRVarsity.com and HRTownSquare.com. Local sports are my primary and favorite field of expertise. I'm the late-night coordinator for a lot of that information, and I proofread as much copy as I can in any section.
My Biography

I'm a Newport News native and resident who grew up in the Richmond area, where my parents moved when I was 6. I'm a 1984 alumnus of Varina High in Henrico County and 1988 graduate of James Madison University. I've worked in some capacity -- writing, editing, etc. -- for the Daily Press full-time since 1989.
My Interests

Like most people who work in newspapers, I read in ravenous detail about current events. I have an extensive background in tennis as a player (at JMU and in regional prize-money tournaments), writer (for tennisrecruiting.net) and volunteer assistant coach (at CNU). I love political debate, op-eds and the great majority of college and high school sports. Personally, my favorite pro team in any sport is the Atlanta Braves. Professionally, I just want to get all the facts right and on time. I think Hampton Roads, especially the Peninsula, is a great place to live and hope our paper can make it even better.
