Peter Schmuck is a native Californian who has been at The Sun since 1990. He spent 16 years as a baseball beat writer, covering the Los Angeles Dodgers and California Angels before coming to Baltimore to cover the Orioles. He also has been The Sun's National Baseball Writer and has covered a wide variety of other sports and events -- including five Super Bowls, the 1996 Olympics, the NBA Finals and horse racing's Triple Crown. He is a past national president of the Baseball Writers Association of America and was part of the State Department-sanctioned delegation that traveled to Cuba to negotiate the historic goodwill series between the Orioles and a team of Cuban All-Stars. He is married with two children.
