In 17 years at the Daily Press, Norm Wood hasn't sat on the bench when coverage of just about any sport has been involved. Since 2000, he has covered Virginia Tech athletics, and in '08 added University of Virginia athletics to his Atlantic Coast Conference concentration. Starting his professional journalism career at the Daily Press in 1998 as a local high school sports reporter for two years, he has also provided event, feature and enterprise coverage in several areas, including a July '99 trip to Cuba to cover a local high school baseball team on a nine-day baseball-playing tour, NASCAR, Norfolk Tides AAA minor league baseball, college wooden-bat summer league baseball (the Peninsula Pilots in the Coastal Plain League), bowling, running, sailing, men's and women's soccer, women's basketball and "X Games"-related sports.
