RedEye movie critic, Sound Board editor
Matt Pais is the RedEye movie critic, reviewing an average of 4-5 movies per week and asking celebrities questions (both insightful and amusingly absurd) that they’re not used to answering. (What results is, for example, Gerard Butler answering for movies he didn’t think turned out very well, Salma Hayek considering the benefit of licking herself clean like a cat, and Justin Timberlake singing R. Kelly’s “Bump ‘N Grind” to Mila Kunis.) He also covers movies for WCIU’s “You & Me This Morning” and NBC Chicago’s “The Talk" and oversees RedEye's music coverage, both local and national.
Raised in Deerfield, Ill., Matt is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and lives on Chicago’s northwest side with his wife. He roots for the Cubs and embraces unusual toppings on pizza and burgers, as well as all-you-can-eat sushi. His favorite movie: A tie between “Rushmore” and “Before Sunrise.”
