My Biography

A native of New York and graduate of The College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Mary is the first woman to run The Baltimore Sun's newsroom. She began at The Sun as an intern and was hired in 1987 to be an editorial assistant. She was quickly promoted to reporter in the features department. From there, she became assistant national editor and then national correspondent, where her work ranged from covering the Versace murder in South Beach to producing a series on the sons and daughters of slain civil rights leaders. She was the assistant managing editor for features for six years and served as the head of print in 2009. The following year she was named director of content.
