My Role

Write about entertainment and culture, pop or not, and occasionally food and other surprises. The basic idea: good stories.

Also wrote the 2009 book "The Foie Gras Wars" (Simon & Schuster).
My Biography

Grew up in Evanston (ETHS grad), graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (and edited the Daily Pennsylvanian), wrote for the Boston Phoenix, returned to Chicago and have been writing for the Tribune since 1989. Yes, 1989.

Oh, and did I mention "The Foie Gras Wars"? Ah...right. Hey, it won the Great Lakes Book Award for general nonfiction plus a couple of Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Paris.
