Local News Editor
I am the local news editor at the Orlando Sentinel, and I manage teams that cover cops and courts, weather, traffic, business, consumer, government and politics news for the newspaper, online and on mobile. I also write for the Sentinel's popular Moms at Work blog.
I am a native Floridian and graduate of the University of Florida. After graduating from UF, where I worked on the Alligator, I had stints at Tribune Media Services and at the Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale before coming to the Sentinel, where over the years I have held a variety of positions, from city editor to associate managing editor for business. I've been the local news editor since April 2009. I am married to Roger Simmons, who is director of content for Tribune Interactive. We have a 14-year-old son, two Pomeranians and a cat.
I have lots of interests but little time to pursue them. At the top of the list is spending time with my husband and son, even if that means attending UCF football games (my husband is a UCF alum and we have season tickets.) I also love cooking, traveling, reading, photography and music. My secret shame is scrapbooking.
