Joe Lawlor is the Newport News reporter, covering City Hall and neighborhoods in Newport News, Va.

Joe Lawlor joined the staff at the Daily Press in January, 2010. Previously, he worked as a reporter at The Flint Journal in Flint, Mich.; the Tribune Chronicle in Warren, Ohio; the Herald-Star in Steubenville, Ohio and Weirton, W.Va. and the Record-Courier in Ravenna, Ohio.

He graduated in 1994 with a degree in journalism from Kent State University.

He lives in Newport News with his wife, Melanie, and two young boys.

Music, tennis, running, skiing and reading. Mostly, though, it seems like I've been watching a lot of children's television.
