My Role

Education reporter for Howard and Anne Arundel counties.
My Biography

I have been a journalist since 1986, and a Baltimore Sun reporter since November, 2004. While at the Sun, I have worked as a general assignment reporter for the Features department, the Western Maryland beat reporter for the News department and the parenting/families beat reporter for the Good Life section of Features.

My stint at the Sun marks the first time I have worked outside of a sports department. Before arriving here, I was a sports writer for the Nashville Tennessean (1986-88) and the Boston Globe (1988-04). My primary beats were college sports, but I also had professional beats as well. I've covered 10 Final Fours, three Super Bowls, the World Series, Davis Cup, the Ryder Cup and the Winter Olympics.
My Interests

All things music. The open road. Travel. Zumba. Screen play writing. Joke books. And stimulating conversation -- as long as you don't believe that your opinion is law and everyone else's opinions are opinions.
