I spent years as a television reporter/anchor and radio host in Chicago. I dropped out of the media to write two books, have a kid, and "find myself". I'm thrilled to be back on the beat with my "Lessons for Life" column.

Bad news for art house cinema fans. After several rocky months under the new ownership of Eddie Carranza, the Portage Theater was padlocked and closed indefinitely. Alternate locations for scheduled screenings next week have already been selected.
