I assign and edit education stories from Baltimore City and the surrounding metropolitan counties as well as higher-ed institutions.

I also edit the obituaries.

I was born in Baltimore and grew up reading The Sun, The Evening Sun and the News-American. I attended Baltimore County public schools and graduated from the University of Maryland, where I majored in journalism.

I've worked at the Sun since 1998. I started out as a news copy editor, then became chief of the features copy desk in 2004. I have been the education editor since May 2009.

I'm a big fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens.
