I have worked as a reporter and editor at several U.S. newspapers -- including the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Virginian-Pilot -- as well as at the Paris-based International Herald Tribune, where I was the deputy editor of the editorial pages. From 2006-08 I edited the short-lived but popular Baltimore SmartWoman magazine.
