I cover theme parks and attractions from the entertainment/experience angle, including news from our four Walt Disney World parks, two Universal parks and SeaWorld Orlando plus other venues along International Drive and Central Florida. Most commonly asked question: "You ride the rides ... for a living?" Yeah, but there are also stories about the creative aspect, lurking outside the walls of Wizarding World of Harry Potter before it opened, interviews with the Grinch, Susan Lucci and Neil Patrick Harris, dangling from the outside of Tower of Terror and dressing up as a member of the Chainsaw Drill Team to experience Halloween Horror Nights as a "scare actor."
I have a degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky. After college, I was one of the (many) advisers for student publications at the University of Texas at Austin before returning to my hometown paper, Owensboro (Ky.) Messenger-Inquirer, and the world's last untamed copy desk. I moved to Orlando to join the business copy desk for several years before switching to features, where I designed the Calendar entertainment tab and helped launch the Theme Park Rangers blog. In 2007, I became a full-time reporter on the attractions beat.
University of Kentucky basketball, drum and bugle corps (Cavaliers, Phantom Regiment), and, stubbornly still, the late, great "All My Children."
