As the performing arts and food writer for the Daily Press, David Nicholson writes about music, theater and dance in Southeastern Virginia. He also writes features and covers the local food and restaurant scene through The Dish, his food blog on dailypress.com and weekly column in the Daily Press.
My Biography

A native of Connecticut, he holds bachelor's degrees in journalism from Boston University and in music from Christopher Newport University. David's news and feature articles on the arts and cultural scene were recognized with a 2001 Alli Award from the Cultural Alliance of Greater Hampton Roads and a nomination from the Governor's Awards for the Arts 2000. He co-authored the series, “Out Here: Gay Voices in Hampton Roads,” which won the top features award from the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association in 2006. David's training includes fellowships to the Music Critics Association, the West Coast Conference on Dance Criticism, the American Dance Festival's critics conference, Eastman School of Music and John & Wales University food critics' symposium. He is a member of the Music Critics Association and a former board member of the Dance Critics Association.
