I cover Maryland's outdoors community, write a Sunday column and a daily blog. I also cover the Olympics, when called upon.
After graduating from college and working for 11 years in New England radio and newspapers, I moved to Maryland in 1988 and was hired by the Evening Sun as a copy editor. I later worked as a bureau chief and the D.C. suburban reporter before becoming the outdoors writer in January 2000. I covered the 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2010 Olympics for the Sun and Tribune.
Hiking, fishing, paddling, photography and reading.
