Becky Yerak joined the Chicago Tribune in December 2003 and spent two years covering retail. She now writes about trends related to borrowing, spending and earning, as well as developments in banking, private equity and insurance industries. Before moving to Chicago, Yerak spent five years at the Detroit News covering casinos and sports business. She has also been a business reporter for the Plain Dealer, the Palm Beach Post and Orlando Business Journal. Her introduction to business journalism came as a college intern at Dow Jones News Service. At one time or another, she has covered most business beats known to man - general assignment, oil and gas, consumer products, manufacturing, utilities, the economy, personal finance and advertising and marketing. Yerak is a journalism graduate from Ohio State University.
