Online Producer
My Role
I'm a producer for OrlandoSentinel.com. My main job is to maintain the breaking news on the home page -- updating stories, headlines and pictures and occasionally writing up a news item.
I also gratify my interest (compulsion?) in staying fit by writing for the Orlando Sentinel's healthy living blog, The Fitness Center.

My Biography
I've been a print journalist, on and off, for the majority of my career, in both news and sports. I started my life in journalism as a sports clerk at the Orlando Sentinel when I was a senior at the University of Central Florida. That position eventually transitioned into a full-time copy-editing and page-design job when I graduated with a B.A. in journalism and minor in computer science.
That was when the World Wide Web was still "browsed" with a text-only browser called Lynx. I hopped on board the 'Net in 1993 with my first computer, a Macintosh Quadra 605.
I'd always had an aptitude for computing, but in college, I took computing courses with the hope that a career in it would be a safety net if journalism didn't work out. Little did I know that the two backgrounds would eventually merge together with the rise of digital media.
It's an exciting time to be a journalist, and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.

My Interests
I've rowed competitively for more than 10 years. I learned to row at UCF, but I really came to love it several years after I graduated and joined Orlando Rowing Club. I won a national and FISA world championship with ORC's women's masters crew in 2010.
I also ran my first half marathon, the Mardi Gras Marathon in New Orleans, in 2010 and finished my second, Tampa's Gasparilla Half Marathon, in 2011.
