Born in Alabama, I split my childhood between Huntsville, Ala. and Satellite Beach, Fla. I graduated from the University of Alabama with a journalism degree in 1993 and spend the rest of the '90s working at small and medium sized newspapers in the South. I came to the Sun Sentinel at the end of 1999 and have been here ever since.
