Head of Sports
I oversee online and print operations of the Baltimore Sun sports department. We cover the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, University of Maryland, Navy and other local colleges, and high school sports.
Ron Fritz has been Head of Sports at the Baltimore Sun since April. Previously he was executive sports editor overseeing Ravens coverage and enterprise. He came to The Sun in 2006 after 12 years at The News Journal in Wilmington, Del., including almost eight years as sports editor. He was also assistant sports editor of the York (Pa.) Daily Record, where he worked from 1989-1994. Ron is a 1988 graduate of Bowling Green State University.
Reading (anything by the late, great Robert Parker, Michael Connelly, Brad Thor, Vince Flynn, Sue Grafton, just to name a few); music (Springsteen, Michael Stanley and any of his bands, The Spill Canvas and a bunch of new country singers); dogs; and just about anything with crab in it. I also like to golf, but rarely get to anymore.
