My Role

I am the restaurant critic for the Baltimore Sun. I contribute the a weekly restaurant review to the Sunday paper as well as a Wednesday column named "Table Talk" that recounts openings, closings, chef-moves, and other news related to the Baltimore area dining scene. I also maintain the Baltimore Diner blog.
My Biography

I joined the Baltimore Sun staff in September 2010. Prior to that I contributed restaurant reviews and occasional other cultural stories to the Sun and the Baltimore City Paper, as well as other regional publications. I am a native of Baltimore County, where I attended Pikesville Senior High School. I studied creative writing at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
My Interests

I love movies and swear by Powell & Pressburger, Max Ophuls, Eric Rohmer, and Caol Reed. I am devoted to the Mary Tyler Moore Show. This is the best job I've ever had.

Shoo-Fly will close in Belvedere Square on Saturday night. The restaurant's closing was  first announced on May 13 by owner Spike Gjerde, but no closing date was given.

Cyrus Keefer has landed in Hampden after all. The chef, formerly of  Fork & Wrench and Birroteca , announced earlier this year that he would open “micro-restaurant” on The Avenue in Hampden. But the partnership behind that venture fell through .

Baltimore Chef Shop, a teaching kitchen, coming to Hampden 5/22/2015
A chef and longtime culinary instructor will open a "teaching kitchen" in Hampden this summer. The location, 807 W. 36th St., is a few doors down from the popular ice cream shop The Charmery.

Baltimore resident Andrew Michael Woods is among 40 of "the best home cooks in America" competing on the new season of "MasterChef," which premieres on at 8 tonight, May 20, on Fox with back-to-back one-hour episodes.
