Peter Marteka is The Hartford Courant's Glastonbury reporter and author of Nature and Way To Go columns. He writes feature and general news stories out of town as well as covering meetings and school events. For the past 12 years, he has written a hiking/nature column across the wilds of one of the smallest state's in the country. The Nature column runs each Friday and includes photo packages of the places he visits in the northwest and northeast hills to the center of the state and shoreline. On Sunday, the Way To Go column runs in the iTowns section of the paper.
Peter Marteka is a native nutmegger born and raised in Portland, CT. A graduate of Muhlenberg College, he began his career at the Courant in January 1996 after five years at The Middletown Press. During his career he has been a writer, photographer and videographer. He has worked on the daily edition, The Middletown Extra - a weekly supplement and iTowns.
