My Role

I write about courts and legal affairs, focusing mostly on Newport News, Hampton and federal courts.

This includes coverage of everything from murder and sexual assault trials to asbestos litigation and other civil lawsuits. It also includes trends affecting the court system and its users.

I enjoy writing stories and projects delving into ways the justice system can be improved upon.
My Biography

I've been with the Daily Press for 13 years. I spent 10 years as a business reporter, including five years covering the shipbuilding, defense and port beat.

I began covering the legal affairs beat in 2007.

Growing up in Providence, R.I., I received a bachelor's degree in political science from Providence College in 1992, and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University in 1995.
My Interests

I enjoy spending time with my wife, and trying to keep up with my 3-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter. I like discussing politics and current events, watching sports (and trying to play), and listening to music.
