Nancy Schoeffler
Home, Garden, Food and Real Estate Editor
My Role

I edit the At Home, Flavor and Home & Real Estate sections of The Hartford Courant and increasingly write for the sections as well as for my home and gardening blog, CT DIGS, at www.courant.com/ctdigs.
My Biography

I've worked at The Hartford Courant since 1995 -- as an editor in the newsroom the first 12 years, overseeing coverage of courts, gambling, health care, biomedical research, politics, education, religion and environment. A few years ago I shifted to features and now edit three weekly sections -- At Home, Home & Real Estate and Flavor. Over the course of my career, I've worked at five daily newspapers. At three I wrote editorials and edited opinion pages. Earlier as a reporter I covered fashion, consumer affairs, courts, education, business and agriculture -- an eclectic mix, to say the least. I also wrote for a public TV show about displaced homemakers (in New Orleans), hosted a radio show about opera, helped start a professional theater, worked in PR, co-founded a fashion news service, headlined a jazz group, taught flute lessons and wrote book jacket copy for Oxford University Press.

My Interests

Gardening, reading, poetry, music (primarily classical and jazz), botanical art, antiques, theatre, great food (cooked by others...), hiking, snorkeling and spoiling our two cats
