I supervise opinion content for the Orlando Sentinel. That includes not only the editorial board's print and online content but also our local columnists: Scott Maxwell, Beth Kassab and Darryl Owens. My job also includes a new audience engagement initiative, designed to create more community conversation through the Sentinel's print, online and public platforms.
I've been in journalism since 1982 and with the Orlando Sentinel since 1986, working first as a reporter in a coastal bureau and then, starting in 1990, as an editor. I've supervised several bureaus and worked in the Orlando office directing reporters who covered all kind of beats, from Disney World to education to transportation. I became the editorial page editor - later renamed the opinions editor - in 2008.
Running, backpacking, politics, kayaking, good books and good and bad movies.
