Mike Kellams
Associate Managing Editor/Sports
My Role

Editor leading a group of more than 40 journalists creating the Chicago Tribune's sports reports in print (Chicago Sports) and online (chicagotribune.com and chicagobreakingsports.com).
My Biography

Kellams grew up on the sunny side of Louisville, Ky., in southern Indiana. He graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in history. He started his career at The Detroit News before a newspaper strike left him jobless and restless. He headed west (he was a young man then) to work for The Seattle Times. (By the way, it rains there more than you've heard.) Kellams returned to his Midwestern roots in 1998 to work for the Chicago Tribune in a variety of jobs in newsroom. He thinks Tribune Tower is by far the coolest newspaper building in the world.
My Interests

My life is simple: If I'm not at the office, I'm at home with my family. If I'm not at either of those places, I'm pondering what next to do with a project car. And that's about it.
