Michael Cross-Barnet's primary duty is overseeing the Baltimore Sun's op-ed page, which includes choosing each day's op-ed articles, editing them and undertaking all aspects of producing the page. Other duties include sitting on the Sun's Editorial Board; managing the Opinion Pages in the editor's absence; copy editing; and writing occasional editorials.
Michael has worked for the Baltimore Sun since 2004, first as a copy editor and, since 2006, in the Opinion Pages. Before that he spent five years at the Los Angeles Times, mainly as a copy editor. Michael's journalism career spans 20 years and five states and includes almost every kind of newsroom job. He was editor of a daily newspaper in Bastrop, Louisiana, in the early 1990s. He is married and has three children.
