Matt has been a journalist since 1999, starting at a weekly newspaper in Caribou, Maine. He has reported on environmental issues, feature stories, government and politics. His favorite reporting assignments include interviewing author Kurt Vonnegut Jr., covering a reunion of the band Phish and riding in a hot-air balloon over the Adirondack foothills. He holds a master's degree in liberal arts from Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., as well as bachelor's degrees in business and psychology from the State University of New York at Oswego. Prior to working as a journalist, Matt was a canoe guide in northern Maine for five summers.
