I get to explore and write about residential and commercial real estate in one of the biggest boom-bust regions of the country. In addition to popping out stories about the latest reports and deals, I am always hunting for groundbreaking stories about foreclosures, rentals, mortgages and construction trends. The deeper the dataset, the better. There are no really bad story ideas; but there's only time to get to the most compelling ones.
Got my BS in journalism through the School of Business at the University of Mississippi, which is a very Southern place for a third-generation Missourian. Worked everywhere from a small daily in Mississippi and the Pulitzer-prize-winning Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, MS to USA Today and the Florida Times-Union. Have worked in every area of the Orlando Sentinel from the Copy Desk to the Editorial Board. Been privileged to celebrate three Pulitzers at this paper and blessed to work with journalists who helped my work drive reform and win some national recognition along the way.
