Mary Gail Hare
Reporter. I cover Baltimore County and occasionally, Baltimore city, reporting on government, newsmakers, community news and events.
I have worked for The Baltimore Sun for 22 years, starting in Carroll County, one of four suburban bureaus. I later transferred to Harford County before I came to the newsroom downtown. I have covered most beats but most often have followed county government. I am now a general assignment reporter and write most often about communities and neighborhoods. I have deep roots in the Baltimore area and many sources.
As a reporter, I much prefer comforting the afflicted to afflicting the comfortable. Much of my free time is devoted to my every growing family with seven grandchildren. I am a constant reader and learner and I love long walks through the neighborhood.
