Reporter I
My Role

I cover K-12 education issues for the Orlando Sentinel. That means reporting on battles over merit pay, debates on standardized tests and the push to shrink class sizes, amongs other stories -- big and small -- about what's happening in Florida's schools.

I also write for the Sentinels's Moms at Work blog, where I enjoy exploring the ups and downs of parenting -- and how juggling work and kids sometimes means you're taping up the hem of your son's pants the night before a school assemly.

My Biography

I've been a newspaper reporter for more than 20 years, working for two newspapers in Virginia before joining the Orlando Sentinel in 1995. I covered both the Osceola and Seminole school dsitricts before moving to the K-12 beat.

My husband and I have two kids, a 7-year-old daughter and an 12-year-old son. Both typically tell me their school day involved doing "stuff."
My Interests

reading, walking, perusing recipes I'll never get around to cooking, looking through home magazines fantasizing that my house is a put-together place where no one leaves books, toys, sports equipment and newspapers scattered about.
