I report on government and community activities in cities in Northeast Broward County: Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Lighthouse Point, Hillsboro Beach and Sea Ranch Lakes.

I'm from Western Massachusetts. I received a bachelor's degree in political science from American International College and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. I reported for the Denver Post, Bradenton Herald and Miami Herald before joining the Sun Sentinel in 1988. I live in Boca Raton with my wife, Maggie, and our two daughters, three dogs and two cats.

When I'm not waiting on my daughters' every whim, I enjoy biking, tennis and trying to grow tomatoes, broccoli and other vegetables in our backyard garden before the nematodes attack. I'm a die-hard Red Sox fan (although I root for the Marlins, too) and have kept my allegiances to the Patriots and Celtics.
