A Mom and The Mouse blogger, news production editor
I write about all things Disney -- Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disney Channel, Radio Disney, Disney Store, Disney music, movies and video games, Disney contests and more -- from a parent and family perspective. I helped launch the Sentinel's web channel, The Daily Disney, in 2009. I also am a copy editor on the production desk.
I grew up in Indiana, with a three-year stay in Puerto Rico, and took several family trips to Disney World when Magic Kingdom and River Country were the only parks. I have a degree in journalism and Spanish from Indiana University. After college, I worked at the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Journal-Gazette and the Owensboro (Ky.) Messenger-Inquirer before coming to the Sentinel, where I have been involved with a variety of print and online products. One of the craziest and most fun Sentinel positions I have held was editor of the teen section; I coached 70 high-school students on writing, photography and graphic design for seven years.
When I'm not at Disney World or the Sentinel, I'm likely to be participating in an activity with my two elementary-school-age children. Like most parents, I am always juggling schedules with my husband to get kids to sports, Scouts and school events, and I enjoy volunteering in their classrooms. When I need a mental break, I read, scrapbook, exercise, go to the beach or web surf with my iPhone.
