Sports columnist
My Role
I write sports columns and blog about sports for The Baltimore Sun and baltimoresun.com. The Ravens, Orioles, and the University of Maryland football and men's basketball teams are among the teams in our area that I cover.
My Biography
I moved back to the Sun's sports section in April of 2009 after 22 years as a humor columnist and features writer with the newspaper. During my first stint as a sports columnist (1981-1987)with the Baltimore Evening Sun, I also covered the Baltimore Colts and reported from their team headquarters on the snowy night that owner Robert Iray summoned the Mayflower vans and moved the team to Indianapolis, perhaps the darkest day in the history of sports in Baltimore.
My Interests
Hiking, golf (played with varying degrees of effectiveness), beer-drinking (especially imported and craft brews, although I'll swill anything made from barley, water, yeast and hops), travel (recently spent two weeks in Ireland) and novel-writing.
