Vice President and Associate Editor at the Chicago Tribune, Joycelyn Winnecke works on new business ideas for media and journalism, directing strategic initiatives to increase audience and profitability through innovation, organizational design and content development across all platforms. Trib Nation, a reader engagement program that includes 100 live events each year, is among her projects. Winnecke's team created and runs a centralized editing operation for 7 Tribune Co. newspapers. The team launched a premium content strategy with Printers Row, a weekly literary journal with original fiction sold to book enthusiasts in print and digital form. Winnecke heads Tribune Media Services News & Features, a content syndication and licensing business, and MCT Information Services, a joint venture with McClatchy Newspapers that provides content to media companies and other businesses around the globe. At the Chicago Tribune, reporting to Editor and SVP Gerould Kern and working with Managing Editor Jane Hirt, Winnecke has helped the newspaper increase coverage of women and issues of interest to women.
My Biography

Joycelyn Winnecke earned an MBA from University of Chicago's Booth and a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Indiana. Winnecke previously worked as Associate Managing Editor for national news at the Chicago Tribune, and before that was Managing Editor at the Chicago Sun-Times. She began her journalism career at age 16, writing obituaries and taking high school basketball scores at her hometown newspaper in Evansville, Ind. Winnecke then worked as a reporter in Washington, D.C. and City Editor at the Indianapolis Star. For 10 years, she wrote a widely distributed column on food and cooking for Scripps Howard News Service.

She lives in Chicago with her 11-year-old daughter.

Joycelyn Winnecke serves on the boards of YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago and the Chicago Tribune Foundation. Winnecke is active in The Chicago Network and the Economic Club of Chicago. Winnecke serves on the President's Advisory Council at Governors State University. Joycelyn Winnecke is interested in women's issues and food, cooking and restaurants. Winnecke lives in downtown Chicago with her 13-year-old daughter.
