435 N. Michigan Avenue
I'm responsible for running the Chicago Tribune newsroom day-to-day. I supervise the news-gathering operation for the newspaper and chicagotribune.com, and also the production of the online and print editions. I recruit and hire for many of the journalism jobs in the newsroom.
I have worked at the Chicago Tribune since 1990. Currently I am the managing editor, a position I've held since August 2008. Before that, I was the editor of RedEye, the Tribune's free daily publication for young urban commuters. During my 20-plus years at the Chicago Tribune, I've also served in other editing roles, including jobs on the national, foreign and sports desks. In December 1989, I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
