I was born in Denver and grew up in rural Central Missouri. I received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I have worked at newspapers in Anderson, S.C.; Columbia, Mo.; Miami and Orlando.

‘NCIS,’ spinoff waltz past ‘Dancing With the Stars’ 5/16/2012
In Orlando, "NCIS" was tops with 247,100 viewers and surpassed "Dancing" with 240,100. Rounding out the top five were "NCIS: Los Angeles" with 181,800, "America's Got Talent" with 161,200 and "Private Practice" with 113,400.
