Gerry Smith has been a reporter at the Chicago Tribune since 2007. He has written stories covering trends in renewable energy and the environmental movement, including features on the nation’s largest urban solar plant and a wind turbine where bats exploded.
My Biography

Before arriving at the Tribune, Gerry was an intern in the Washington bureau of Cox Newspapers and in the East Africa bureau of Agence France-Presse in Nairobi, Kenya.

He received a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism and an undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University.
My Interests

Outside of Gerry’s professional life, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, listening to NPR and cooking.
