I am on the Breaking News team, primarily covering Seminole and Volusia counties. I also write a lottery blog at orlandosentinel.com.
I am a Sanford native and sixth generation Floridian. I began my newspaper career in high school writing for the Sanford (Fla.) Herald where I became Sports Editor at age 18 before moving to the news side. I began writing for the Orlando Sentinel in late 1973 while I was working for the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and joined the Sentinel fulltime in May 1974. I am married to Bonnie Wieboldt Taylor and we have one son, Charles.
I am president of Sanford Babe Ruth Baseball and Sanford S.P.O.R.T.S. (Supportive Parents of Recreation Team Sports). I have coached youth sports for more than 40 years and I am in the Seminole County Sports Hall of Fame for my contributions in the area of youth sports as well as my work to build the sports collection at the Sanford Museum.
