My Role
I write about health issues as a member of the Chicago Tribune’s investigative/consumer watchdog team, with the aim of looking out for the Little Guy and Gal.
My Biography
It's amazing how interest in health news has exploded since I started on the beat in 1987. I came to the Tribune in 2007 and joined the paper's investigative/consumer watchdog team in 2009. Previously, I worked for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Chicago Sun-Times, NBC, CBS, City News Bureau of Chicago and American Medical News, covering health issues for physicians. Health reporting is a multi-layered, ever changing and endlessly fascinating beat.
My Interests
My professional interest is in reporting stories at the intersection of medicine, ethics, psychology, politics, economics and society -- in other words, all those places where the rubber hits the road in health care.
