David Owens

My Role
Reporter covering crime, courts and breaking news.
My Biography
David Owens has been a reporter for The Courant for nearly 20 years and has covered communities in western and eastern Connecticut and high-profile crimes and trials. Before arriving at The Courant in 1994, he worked a little over five years at The Register Citizen in Torrington, Conn., covering small towns such as Hartland, Colebrook, Norfolk, North Canaan and Salisbury, and the city of Torrington as well as the Litchfield courthouse. He's also taught college. He remembers when reporters always had to have change for pay phones, saved stories on floppy disks, wrote stories on "shacks" and when fax machines were a great technological innovation.
