My Role
Responsible for producing editorials on various subjects including state politics, education, the military and criminal justice. Writes a once-weekly general interest column on subjects ranging from education to human interest to social criticism.
My Biography
After earning his journalism degree at Howard University, Editorial writer/Columnist Darryl E. Owens joined the Orlando Sentinel in June 1990.
During his two decades at the Sentinel, he's covered small-town politics, the night police beat, family/parenting issues, health and wellness and human interest topics.
Since 2003, he's penned an general interest column that has won state and national awards. Since 2009, he's served on the Sentinel's Editorial Board.
My Interests
Collecting music, theater, travel, gadgets, photography, bad sci-fi movies (i.e. Plan 9 From Outer Space), Scouting, Christian apologetics, church, college basketball and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
