Daniela Altimari has been on the Hartford Courant's staff since 1995. Before that, she worked at daily newspapers in Torrington and Danbury. At the Courant, she covered police and government in suburban West Hartford before moving to the politics desk in 2008. She has written about the debate over same-sex marriage, a controversy over the governance of the Catholic Church in Connecticut and the collapse of Chris Dodd's Senate career. A native of Weymouth, Mass., she studied Russian at the University of Massachusetts and holds a master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
