My Biography

I have worked at the Sun Sentinel since January 1978; was the outdoors writer for 10 years, was a general sports columnist and feature writer and spent 17 years as a page designer and senior copy editor before returning to writing on the local sports beat. Am married with two kids, a daughter Allison who works for CBS online sports marketing and son Glenn, an aeronautical engineering major at the University of Central Florida.
My Interests

Running, cycling, photography, curling, drums, traveling. I run in road races from 5K to half marathon, including many of the races that I write about.

Wigo twins named to U.S. water polo team for World University Games 6/23/2011
Fort Lauderdale’s Drac and Janson Wigo cleared a major hurdle in their quest to play on the U.S. water polo team in next year’s London Olympics by gaining selection for the upcoming World University Games. The identical twins were among 13 named to the U.S. team that will compete in Shenzen, China, Aug. 11-23.

Olympian Dix to run Saturday in Miramar elite meet; first race in Broward since high school 6/10/2011
Olympic bronze medalist Walter Dix will make a rare competitive appearance in South Florida on Saturday in the Elite Open Track and Field Invitational. Dix, a state champion sprinter for Coral Springs High and NCAA champ with Florida State, will run the 100 meters and possibly the 200 in the meet at Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, according to his brother and agent Washington Dix. Prelims start at 9 a.m., finals at 11:30. The 100-meter final is scheduled for 1 p.m., the 200 for 2 p.m.
